“At today’s highly-anticipated media event, Apple announced the iPad tablet device, featuring a 9.7-inch, 1024 x 768 display and 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB capacities. Carrying a custom 1 GHz “Apple A4″ chip, the iPad weighs in at 1.5 pounds and is .5-inch thin. The iPad will be priced at $499, $599, and $699 for the varying capacity models without 3G, and $626, $729, and $829 with 3G. Wi-Fi only models are scheduled to ship in 60 days, with 3G-capable model shipping in 90 days. A video preview is also available.

In terms of standard connectivity, the iPad offers Wi-Fi (802.11n) and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, with 3G models also offering cellular data connectivity. All iPad models have an accelerometer, compass, speakers, a microphone, and a 30-pin dock connector. The iPad also offers a claimed 10 hours of battery life for viewing video, with 1 month of standby battery life.

Models with 3G will be unlocked and will be able to use GSM micro SIMs. In the U.S., AT&T will offer two data plan options ? $14.99 for up to 250 MB per month and $29.99 per month for unlimited data. No contract is required for either option, and free access to AT&T’s Wi-Fi hot spots is included. Data packages for for iPad users outside of the U.S. will by in place by June.”

Being the music addict that I am, I’m always on the hunt for the next and “newest” music delivery services out there. Let’s face it, relying solely on your iPod shuffle can get old and disappointing fast. Plus, you can only listen to your same “go to” songs for your same default mood so many times. Enter Musicovery, and Ghostly.

Lately I’ve been hyped on playing my music, and discovering new artists based entirely on my mood. Ghostly’s iPhone App is defiantly to blame for starting this quest. The app allows you to select the tempo of the music you would like to listen to, the genre it will stem from, and your overall mood – based on color. The music that is provided back to you represents the current artists representing the Ghostly label roster. Yes it’s essentially a marketing tool made by Ghostly to push their artists, but their artists are amazingly talented (you should be listening to them anyway – especially Mobius Band ) AND it begs the question – why aren’t we all listening to ALL of our music this way?

Immediately I wanted to be able shuffle all of my own music by mood. I envisioned the hours and long nights I would spend coding the program to enable me to do such a beautiful thing. Oh, technology – you sexy bitch, you never fail me. This has already been done via musicovery. The iTunes plugin works simply and flawlessly, making an instant playlist based on tempo and your mood. (I’m not sure how you group your songs by mood, then by genre yet – or if that is even an option, but for now this still works just fine for me. More than fine, I don’t have to code it!) Currently the iTunes plugin only works for the Mac OSX, because win-blows.

The interactive web radio site is obviously available to all though, and easily allows genre categorization. The site is created by the merger of Pandora with Musicplasma (Musicplasma catalogs your favorite movies + your favorite music to show similarities between the two and offer suggestions as to what might also be of interest to you. It’s also cool to check out!) Both of these sites have come together to create Musicovery which brings you a fully customizable music player which should keep you satisfied, dancing, and entertained for at least a few days. (Day two myself..)

So, What are you waiting for? Go Try it out. Make sure you customize all of the available options to have the best musical experience possible. Start with setting the slider for the era you would like your music to come from, then select your mood, set your tempo, and if you would like – set your selective genres. Want less popular music? Hit the discovery button. Musicovery will get to know your tastes, similar to Pandora, if you let it by selecting that you heart or broken heart on each track you feel something strong for in either the love or hate direction. My current obsessions settings are: All era, dark and calm, electro & r&b, + discovery, -dance, -tempo. Take electro out, add similar artists and you have my other obsession. So far I have found two bands that i’m unsure how I ever lived without – and they are down tempo, which is shocking for me. More alarming is how I ever lived without this site since it was created in 2006.. As they say, better late than never..

I’ve written about Panoramio before. Though it is now owned by google, it often has better photos than google images itself. It won’t turn up anything for celebrity photos, or cutesy kitties though – this is simply for travel photos, and images of the world. So – If you’re an escapist and need help plotting your next breakout point via photos, or just want to freshen up the black 12×12 square that you stare at for 7.5 hours a day, this site is still for you..

I ended up at Panoramio again this morning when my desktop photo was lacking. As it’s freezing outside in New England, I’ve caught myself thinking of one of my favorite places nestled inside of my heart: The lovely Jensen Beach, located a stone’s throw from my grandfather’s house in Port Saint Lucie, FL. A quick google images search was embarrassing – try it for yourself. An even quicker Panoramio search was stunning and granted me this:

*Sigh* I love Panoramio, and I ache to be on this beach again ASAP.
