Easily two of my favorite artists in one cheesy song.
I discovered Tiziano Ferro when I was in Italy in 2006 and Stop! Dimentica was the number one single and on constantly as I drove the country bottom to top. I adore his voice, and Mary obviously remains the queen of hip hop, soul, and r&b. Just thought this was interesting to see them together in this, It’s number one in Italia right now.

and you know… you really should know Tiziano, while you’re here:

English translation lyrics:
Uno sguardo che rompe il silenzio
One look that breaks the silence
uno sguardo ha detto ciò che penso
one look said what I think
uno, uno sguardo
one, one look
uno sguardo può durare un giorno
one look can last a whole day
la partenza senza mai il ritorno
a departure with no return
uno, uno sguardo
one, one look

Tutto ciò che so, te lo dirò
I’ll tell you all I know
e tutto ciò che non sai dire spiega il mare.
and the sea will explain all you don’t know how to explain
Sento qualcosa di grande, più di questa città
I can feel something big, bigger than this city
La bugia che rompe ogni silenzio
the lie which breaks every silence
è la bugia che dico solo se non penso
is the lie I say only when I don’t think
ti prego non fermarti proprio adesso perchè dopo non si può
I’m begging you, don’t stop right now because later it’s impossible

Stop! Dimentica
Stop! Forget
questo silenzio,
this silence,
non vale neanche una parola nè una sola e quindi,
it’s not worth a single word, not a single one, so,
Stop! Dimentica perchè
stop! Forget because…
e tutto il resto andrà da se
and all the rest will go by itself
dimentica perchè
forget because…
dimentica per me.
forget for me.

Una storia grande come il mondo
A story as large as the world
una storia lunga tutto il giorno
a story as long as an entire day
una , una storia
one, one story
una bugia di una parola sola
a lie made of a single wordè la tua più affascinante storia
is your most fascinating story
una, la tua storia
one- your story

Stop! Dimentica
Stop! Forget
questo silenzio,
this silence,
non vale neanche una parola nè una sola e quindi,
it’s not worth a single word, not a single one, so,
Stop! Dimentica perchè
stop! Forget because…
e tutto il resto andrà da se
and all the rest will go by itself
dimentica perchè
forget because…
dimentica per me.
forget for me.

- I love naming a song with music, ironically acapella
- I love how strong and beautiful kelis is in this video
- I wish I had an ounce of strength inside me now
- I wish all of my essence didn’t resonate with these lyrics:

“Everything was the same
One color was just like the others
An assembly routine
My memories were all black and white
Till I stopped over-thinking
Decided to draw back the curtains
And I cleared all the cobwebs
And began to let in the light

So come and revive me
I can’t feel my heartbeat
Just me surviving alone

Before you,
My whole life was acapella.”

T.I.’s new single – His blatant I owed you hood love song to Tiny for holding him down while he was doing his time. It’s completely reminiscent of Meth and Mary’s you’re all I need to get by, maybe not as instant classic, but still has ghetto sweetness all over it. Welcome back King.

I’ve been slowly converting my wall of cds to mp3s and coming across the most random shit that I once enjoyed. I just trampled over Dave Matthews covering Marilyn Manson, Forcing me to admit that I still like some of this hot mess.

Prick your finger it is done…
the moon has now eclipsed the sun…
the angel has spread its wings…
the time has come for bitter things…

“He was impressed by “Galang,” but he was still hesitant. “There was a lot of cynicism about Maya,” he said. “She wasn’t a musician, and she had no basic musical craft. The label’s ethic is music that’s quite serious, and we work with people where music is not a way to become famous. It’s everything they’re about and, with Maya, people couldn’t see beyond the fact that she wasn’t a musician. Now, as much as I respect musicians, nothing takes the place of ingenuity and inspiration and originality. If you’ve got that spark, something to say and you’re determined enough, it might be quite interesting.”

“The producers played her tracks that didn’t have much to do with what Maya had played them. It was a beginning. “Producers are important,” Iovine had told me. “Every song starts with a beat and a sound and that usually comes from the producer. I run my company through record producers. I started out as a record producer. If I let myself go, that’s where the wind takes me. But the trick is — and Maya is amazing at this — to fuse the style of the producer with the artist. Maya is a great judge of what works: she knows how to get the best from her producers.”
