Miss Amy Winehouse would like to present to you her new record label,
Lioness records.

This is how it all started. Do we all remember this?
You’re 12 years old. Your godmother asks you to sing along at her friends house, while they tape you.
Harmless.
Except, your godmother is Amy Winehouse, her friend happens to be Pete Doherty, and the harmless four-minute video is then broadcast worldwide on YouTube. Subsequently watched by tens of thousands of people and instantly Dionne is no longer just a shy teenage girl in Kent, she’s a star in the making.

Amy was typically chastised in the release of this video. Yet, what people don’t appreciate is the effect this little girl had on Amy cleaning up her act, if even for the moment. Soon after the release of this video Amy checked herself into “detox” in St.Lucia. (Detox Amy’s way.) She’s still gonna smoke her hash and drink her brews -- which is fine in my book. As long as we nix the horsie tranks and the chalk sauce it’s major progress. She finally got rid of Blake I-nebba-had-a-job-or-did-anything-past-elementary-skool-anyway civil fielder. Then she came back from the island and focused on this little girl -- who I assure you, will make her major coin as she WILL be a star. She is the new mini winehouse, sans addictions, plus a shockingly prepubescent leveled head. Yet, I honestly feel, especially in meeting Amy who is majorly sweet and even shy, that she is propelling this little girl into the limelight overnight with nothing but the best intentions. I don’t even think she has the money in mind.
Dionne was already on the way to a long singing career. She attends the prestigious Voxbox singing school in Camden, north London. Amy just invested in Dionne, and put her name behind her. One thing Amy knows is good music and can spot talent. She’s footed the bill to send Dionne to a singing program in LA this summer and helped Dionne come under the strict apprenticeship of Seth Riggs, whose alumni include the likes of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles.
…This girl is admittedly top priority for Amy. One thing we know about addicts is that they need something to distract them, to keep them busy, to work on, to inspire them, and to believe in. They need a reason to wake up each morning, and they are often co-dependent individuals as well. As much as people are trashing Amy’s involvement with her goddaughter Dionne, shooting her into the industry overnight at 13 years old, and being a role model to the little girl -- I’m taking the opposite side of the argument on this one. I think Amy sees her younger self in Dionne. (They sound VERY similar) and it’s inspiring Amy to get correct. Dionne has gotten Amy back in the studio providing background vocals, and let it be known that Amy co-produced and co-wrote this album with Dionne. Amy is finally delivering again, maybe not her own material.. Yet when she IS ready, she now has her own record label to release her third album on. Artists -- you should be scared.
She can still sit down with an acoustic guitar in a studio and blow you bitches away with songs she wrote HERSELF, in 5 minutes. Homegirl’s talent rarely exists today and exemplifies the true death of auto tune. ALSO -- it’s confirmed as of two days ago that Mark Ronson agreed to work with her on this next album since she’s proven her recovery -- see below. (read: you’re all fucked)

Also Also: If you don’t know who Zalon Thompson is you should familiarize yourself real fast. It’s one of Amy’s ridiculously talented backup singers, who will also have an album released on her label very soon. (His brother Heshima is just as talented, beautiful and humble.) They both deserve their own blog write up. google/youtube them in the meantime.
