What’s her name covered Brits, I support it.
Tori Amos’ new album Abnormally Addicted to Sin was officially released today. I was just upstairs at the house I work at and WRBU was on the radio. (WBRU 95.5 is Brown University’s college radio station here in Rhode Island.) They play alternative rock, and do actively play Tori, and continually have played her and supported her through the years. To the point where her picture hangs in the studio’s entrance. As I said above, the album was released today and low and behold they were playing: Silent All These Years. (Or SATY to those of you in the know, EWF and such.) This track is about 18 years old, having been released in 1991. Please recognize again, there was a new album released today, and to support her they are playing an 18 year old track. Children have been born, and have graduated college since this track was released. That’s how old it is. Why is it that they chose to play this song, instead of a new song?? — Well Jill made me aware that it’s 90′s week at the station – so they are playing throw back 90′s songs this week exclusively. Fair enough.. but.. I wonder.. if it were not 90′s week, would they be playing something off the new album? Is there a single to play? Is SATY arguably better then anything off of the new album? I think so. I think there is something to be said about the following fact: Two girls heard the same song, at the same time, in the same town on the same radio station and started to tear up over the loss of SOMETHING… even though this track is 18 years old, it’s still better then a gigantic portion of the new stuff. That speaks bounds.. As artists we’re supposed to resemble a fine wine, and get better with age..I’m just sayin’.
(Also, I have a lot to say about the album, but I’m pressed for time, and unsure if it’s even worth it sometimes…)
